Flash Atkins is a super hero who had his gravy days in the 80s saving the world with his ability to manipulate sound. Unfortunately he's fallen on hard times and can be spotted in the less salubrious parts of London, often stoned or drunk on borrowed money. To make ends meet he uses his special powers to remix and make deep tech-soul tracks for Paper Recordings.

FLASH ATKINS - HARD DAYS EP
PAPD36
FLASH ATKINS - HARD DAYS EP
1 Hard Days
2 Freak Club feat. The Little Lost Boy
3 Flood Warning
Flash Atkins - superhero, drunkard, liar, gambler, sound manipulator, DJ and maker of damn fine EPs.
First up, Hard Days is mid-tempo 80s flavoured house that centers around a synth bass, classic acid house piano, arps and deep pads. Tipping a wink to Tensnake, it’s crisp and irresistible groove builds to the drop where everything is stripped back before riding out to the end.
Next off the blocks, Freak Club goes as deep as you like with a throbbing bass, techy drums and monotonous groove. The Little Lost Boy then tells a story about an underground club that turns out not to be all that it seems. Perfect for mashing heads at 5am.
Finally, Flood Warning is an old-skool cut inspired by Junior Vasquez’s Sound Factory and Robodisco, both of which had air raid sirens in situ. Cracking drums, rolling bass, nagging keys and the siren makes for ravetastic mayhem!
Feedback so far...
Severino Panzetta (Horsemeat Disco) - AMAZING ..Flood warning break is MENTAL!
Joakim - I like freaks, i like Freak Club.
James Teej - Nice stuff from paper as per usual. flash does not disappoint, nice and diverse record.
Zev (Wolf+Lamb) - Flash dat smack Atkins.
Ryan Cavanagh (Slow Hands) - Hard Days is my fav!
Scope - Fuck me, that flood warning is bbbbbbbbbbbbad to the bone!
Ralph Myerz - All trax are perfect late-nite-5am-eternal-muzik, but the standout track for me is Freak Club, will stay in my sets for a LONG time. Definitely one of my favourite tracks this year. It combines the very best of oldschool Paper releases with the very very best of tha future. Amazing!'
Bottin (Eskimo / Italiens Do it Better) - Flood does it for me.
Dean Facer - Superb EP.... really, really loving this !!!
Chris Todd (Crazy P) - Nice EP, 3 quite different tracks, with Flood Warning just coming out on top for me, ah that siren takes me back!
Drop Out Orchestra - Flood Warning is right up our street.
Nutritious - Insane-o ridiculous amounts of awesome.
Bonar Bradberry - Great swingy groove in Hard Days and Flood Warning is a Lot of fun!
Q-Burns Abstract Message - Hard Days is swell, a nice synth-bopping wind up for the floor. "Flood Warning" has definite mid-set 'get the troops in line' potential.
Terry Farley - Flood warning is a great groove will get right behind it.
Billy Scurry - Flood Warning is an absolute monster!!
Toolroom - Really nice vibe on Hard Days.
Murray Richardson - Flash we love you!
Sleazy McQueen - Frenetic!
Christophe (Futureboogie) - Really fuckin' heavy!!
Nathan Detroit (Southern Fried) - Sexy stuff

THE BIONICS - I FEEL FOR YOU (FLASH ATKINS MIX)
The Bionics are a studio band consisting of Crazy P's Danielle Moore and Tim Davies plus Paper Recordings' Ben Davis (Flash Atkins). This cover of Prince's I Feel For You fell through the cracks so it seemed like a good time to give it some air.
