Flash Atkins - The In Crowd / Flash's Theme

Flash Atkins - The In Crowd by Flash Atkins

Flash Atkins - Flash's Theme by Flash Atkins

We Are Woodville and Paper Recordings’ very own loser super hero Flash Atkins returns to centre stage with another genre-busting EP and two brand new cuts that delve deep into the realms of nu disco.
The In Crowd is a chunky and chugging groove laden number based round a hefty Roxy Music sample. It's got some heavy synths, a big break and is a perfect peaktime roof raiser!

Flash’s Theme is a laid back and jazz infused disco affair. Ronny Jordan inspired guitar lines jam over a warm bed of live drums, full bass and keys to deliver a simply infectious and timeless record.

Jazzanova - Nice 12", The In Crowd gets my support.
Rob Mello – Flash’s Theme sounds great!
Billy Scurry - Blinding release, quite hard to chose a fav butboth killer tracks... Flash is in well funky mode!!
Diskjokke - Like The In Crowd reminds me of some of those old guerilla tracks.
Ashley Beedle - Mr Atkins always brings a smile to my face. Roxy Music get's carved up and Flash's Theme is a beauty as well.
James Teej (Rekids) - Great, great music! Atkins is the man!
Faze Action – Very good, I like!
Sebastian Döring – Flash’s Theme…oh yeah!
The Dead Rose Music Company - The In Crowd floats my boat and will defo get dropped
Eric Duncan (Rub ‘n Tug) - Cool!!!!
Jim Baron (Crazy P) - I'm in with The In Crowd. Heavy stuff!
Fred Everything - Flash's Theme for me.
Tim Love Lee - Lovely stuff.
Magik Johnson - The In Crowd for me, Fatboy Slim meets DFA. Love the sleeve too.
Leftside Wobble - Proper rockin' buisness!
Trent Grimes (MOS) - Flash is king!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both dope jams!
Kiko Navarro - Excellent tracks, great for those new people who like what they call nu-disco.
Stuart Knight (Toolroom) - Flash's theme is the one for me "PROPER"
Joshua Iz - Simply good choons.
Murray Richardson - Liking The In Crowd Flashman!!!
Disco Outcasts - Massive killer track!!
Dave Pezzner - Wow! Very nice. Flash's theme is fantastic.
Krysko - The In Crowd... monster hook, will do the business for sure.
Craig Smith (6th Borough Project) - Diggin’ on Flash’s Theme
Diesel (X-Press 2) - Liking it. Will play on show.

Flash Atkins - The Sweetshop Video

The Sweetshop (Pick & Mix) has got lo-fi bass, crunchy drums and snapping synths all topped off with 70s crooner Caspa Codina’s sleazy falsetto; it’s pop music with a knowing wink and impeccable 80s credentials.

The video for The Sweetshop is completely unique and turns social networking on it’s head; In a world where all the ideas have been used up, this is a NEW ONE! It takes a sideways look at Facebook / YouTube / My Space / Twitter and filters it all through the seedy world of Flash Atkins.

Remixes come from producer of the hour Medasyn with a big room electro mix complete with crowd noises, dirty distorted basslines and 80s arpeggiators Magik J does his hypnotic heads down thing with a vocal and dub suitable for those darker moments. The tracks mix up fidget, techno and house, guaranteeing full floors and thrown shapes.

The single is out on general release on March 22 but in the meantime you can hear it all on http://soundcloud.com/flash-atkins

So hop on board Flash Atkins’ booze wagon and see if we can’t chance The Sweetshop in to world domination! Flash will personally let you buy him a drink when you next pick him up out of the gutter.

Fags & Booze EP Out Now!

FAGS & BOOZE EP

G.I.G.O.L.O feat. George Demure by Flash Atkins

Chant No.1 (I Don't Need This Pressure On) feat. Danielle Moore by Flash Atkins

The Flow feat. Sean Reveron by Flash Atkins

G.I.G.O.L.O feat. George Demure (Wild Pitch Dub) by Flash Atkins

The EP is finally out and is a solid four track EP of leftfield house, disco and downbeat with warblers George Demure, Crazy P’s Danielle Moore and Beta Band cohort Sean Reveron. It is dedicated to his favourite things in life: the fags and the booze.

First up, Scotland’s finest baritone and lady’s man George Demure sings of his life as a gigolo over a thudding double bass driven thumper. It resonates with touches of wild pitch before descending in to some serious guitar disco action to wrap things up.

Next, everybody’s least favourite 80s Old Romantics Spandau Ballet get their only good song Chant Number 1 (I Don’t Need This Pressure On) given the disco re-rub treatment with Crazy P’s Danielle Moore doing her best Tony Hadley impression. An analogue bass sits over shuffling dancefloor beats with plenty of electronic action before ending with some heavenly rhodes, strings, arpeggiator and pads.

The Flow takes things down a notch with a down tempo track that tips its hat to Kruder & Dorfmeister and Talk Talk. It features LA rapper Sean Reveron who has worked with David Holmes and The Beta Band in top rhyming form. There are sirens, strings, feedback, off kilter beats and a break in the middle that uses a kit sampled in the cellar of Hoxton boozer, William IV.

Finally there is a Wild Pitch dub of G.I.G.O.L.O that does what it says on the tin by keeping things simple but with some extra wild pitch ‘on the one’.

Josh Wink : All about the wild pitch dub mix. Really raw, I dig.

Leo Elstob (Leo Zero) : The Chant No.1 is genius. Nuff said.

Luke Solomon : Great e.p, I even quite like the Spandau cover, and I hate Spandau ballet!

Red Rack ‘Em : I like the Wild Pitch Dub of Gigolo and I am going to play it on the Smugglers Inn radio show tonight.

Rachel Barton (Radio 1) : Quality production from Flash! Head nodding business.

Chris Coco : Chant No 1 is rather fun.

Matteo Esse : Another quality offering from WAW. All tracks are beautifully produced but the best for me is definitely the Wild Pitch version of GIGOLO. Nice one.

Laurent Garnier : Funny Track (I don’t know if this is a good thing – Flash)

Karoshi : Go Flash go. The Flow for me - some kinda dark sleazy sex music.

Cal Gibson : We can but dream of owning such a body as flash's...check dem abz innit

Greg Churchill : Nice socks, and ya pooch looks a bit embarrassed. Top tunes here old boy. Really love the Wild Pitch mix, though The Flow is me favourite.

Harri : Loving the Al Naafiysh on mogadon feel of "The Flow" and the Wild Pitch dub. Well done Flash J

Pete Jay (Nish Nash Nosh) : WOOOOOOOAHHH!!! Best thing I've heard in ages, each one is a winner in so many ways. Gigolo is defo going on a new podcast mix this week and Danni sounds wicked on the Spandau cover...how has this not been done before??? The Flow is wonderfully put together.

Shane Johnson (Fish Go Deep) : Vocal not quite doing it for me but I like that groove. Wild Pitch Dub!

Mat Playford : Amazing e.p...all over it like cheap coat from T K Max!

Paul Hamill (Radio 1) : Excellent stuff, will squeeze one of these on the show.
